Hope Harbor’s start

Hi! My name is Aurbey Barba. I’m a Licensed professional counselor in the state of Michigan. I received my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Moody Theological Seminary. After graduating from Wayne State University in 2020 with my Bachelor’s in Public Health and a minor in health psychology, I became an intern for Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) with the Metro-Detroit team. Due to this being a year heavily impacted by COVID-19, I witnessed many of our students struggling greatly with mental health issues and having difficulty finding faith based mental health support. That is when I began to feel a call from the Lord to pursue counseling. When I became an intern through Moody’s counseling center, I fell in love with counseling. It was such a privilege to be a source of support and encouragement to those in need. I truly believe in the power of therapy rooted in the deep hope that we have in Christ. It has been my honor to see God in the therapy room healing trauma, breaking chains of anxiety, the ending of generational patterns, and so much more. It is my hope that Hope Harbor Counseling will be a haven for the hurting and the suffering to find compassionate and faith-filled care.

In my free time I love spending time with my husband, our baby, and our sweet pup! We love taking walks most nights and playing a competitive game of whatever board game we’re into at the moment. I grew up in West Michigan, so the beach, specifically Lake Michigan, is my happy place. I love to sew, paint, crochet, and read. These are the ways that I am able to relax and decompress throughout the week. I can’t wait to connect with you and hear your story.
